COMPANY PROFILE OF SELAM BUS LINE SH. CO.

 ESTABLISHMENT

Selam Bus Line Share Company was established in 1996 by Tigray Development Association (TDA) to address the nation-wide need for public transportation. The company launched operating reliable bus transport services with a fleet of 25 IVECO maxi-buses with initial capital of 13.7 million birr. Selam Bus Line Share Company was legally constituted on Tir 29, 1987 E.C with Registration No. 0014/87. Our company buses are luxurious tourist buses with a capacity of 48 seats which are equipped with Air conditioner, fridge, monitor, & safety belt so that passengers are entertained by DVD/VCD music/film, Cake & soft drink or plastic packed water/Juice while traveling.

At present the company has 29 fleet size operating from Addis to Diredawa, Harrer, Jijiga, jimma, Bahirdar, Gondor, Dessie & Mekelle, Shire, Assosa, Arbaminch & Moyale.The head quarters, bus terminal and garage of Selam Bus has been established in Addis Ababa with branch offices in all regional capitals. Buses departing from Addis Ababa to all the regional capitals providing all necessary information and entertainment services to the satisfaction of the passengers are expected to serve as the ambassadors of the region.

1.      Modern Fleet

Selam bus’s motor coach fleet is the most modern fleet in Ethiopia. The average age of selam bus fleet is one year old only. 

2.      Insuranace

            Selam buses have all inclusive insurance against Collusion, Overturning, Theft & Fire, BSG (Bandits & Shifta cover), Third party legal        liability and passengers’ legal liability for each seat.

3.      Safety

Every day and every trip, our drivers put safety first. Our company has consistently maintained the highest safety rating from Transport Authority. Our drivers have been recognized nationally for their achievement in safety.

 

4.      Training

Each selam bus driver must complete an extensive one month training course in addition to his more than 10 years of service in similar heavy duty vehicles before sitting behind the wheel of a motor coach. This program consists of driver training, security procedures and customer service techniques. Each driver is required to participate in Drug & Alcohol testing and extensive background checks.

 

5.      Technology

These luxury tourist buses which have a capacity of 48 seats are equipped with air conditioner, fridge, monitor & safety belt so that passengers are entertained by DVD music/Films, cake, Juice/plastic packed spring water while travelling.  Every coach is equipped with cellular telephones for communicating with our dispatch center.

We are the only intercity public transport company to equip each coach with GPS tracking systems.Hence, our customers consistently choose Selam bus for their School field trips, Sporting events, Business outing, Religious travels, Resort travels, Shuttle service, Convention service … what ever the occasion, Selam bus motor coaches are perfect for any group travelling together. ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

Selam Bus is organized in such a way that it would easily be able to provide an efficient service to its customers. It is characterized by a flat organization structure with all units having broad authorities and thus customer’s can be served very fast.The general assembly of share holders is the highest body of the company as Per the Articles of Association of the Company.

The Board of Directors which is accountable to the general assembly is the highest management body of Selam bus. The board is composed of renowned highly professionals who are highly dedicated to employ their expertise and experience to the company’s growth and development. The executive management as well is composed with a team of qualified and highly experienced professionals and practitioners in the transport sector.

SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

Putting customers first is our priority. We continue to focus closely on the recruitment and training of our employees, as well as improved passenger information. We are working hard to increase the quality, reliability and frequency of bus services to satisfy our market target, the middle income group & offer car users a realistic transport alternative, safety and help cut congestion. Bus priority measures are crucial to achieving this objective and our management team work in close partnership with federal & local authorities to improve local services. Our services play an important role in delivering social inclusion, helping people in rural and urban areas access work, education, health, shopping and leisure, with one thousand three hundred  passengers traveling on Selam coach services every day.

Selam Bus is committed to maintain the ease and convenience as well as the comfort of its passengers by regularly making arrangements of efficient and standard reception and hotel services on their behalf and furthermore the aim is to raise its capital so as to give efficient and modern bus service by importing very modern buses possessing the state of the art technology including internal café and toilet services, all to the satisfaction of its clients.
